How Can I Pick the Right Christmas Cookies?

With hundreds of options out there, you may be wondering just how you're supposed to pick the cookies you want to bake! While we're sure you'd like to try them all, narrowing your choices down to several instead of several hundred is the way to go. That way, you won't overwhelm yourself and you and your family can actually enjoy the tradition of baking cookies together.

To start, eliminate the cookies that you know your family won't enjoy too much, or the recipes that they can't eat. For example, if you have a nut allergy in your family, eliminate any cookie recipes that involve nuts. If your family doesn't like white chocolate, then any cookies that have that as a main ingredient are off the list.

This should help you narrow down your list by a good margin. Once you've done this, go back through the list and single out the recipes you know you have to make. Maybe your family absolutely loves gingerbread, or you know a chocolate mint cookie will be to die for. You don't need to finish narrowing down your list at this stage, but try to keep the number of recipes you single out to twenty or less.

Once you've completed this step, narrow your new list down to four to six cookies. This will take some time, but there's no way you'll be able to make fifteen different cookie recipes! Consult your family and have them help you make your decision. Pick the recipes that everyone is interested in. You can always try the other ones next year!

This process should leave you with a nice list of cookies to make. This is the best way to ensure that your family will enjoy the process of making and eating cookies! Christmas cookie baking has been a holiday tradition for families across America for decades; it's time to partake in it with your family!
