Song Il-kook (Korean: 송일국; Hanja: 宋一國; born 1 October 1971) is a South Korean actor. He is best known for his role in the 2006 hit drama series Jumong as the titular character.

Hae Mo-su (Korean: 해모수; Hanja: 解慕漱) was the founder of Buyeo. According to the Samguk Sagi, Hae Mo-su was the father of Goguryeo's founder, Jumong (Korean: 주몽; Hanja: 朱蒙).

Jumong was a king and conqueror who built Goguryeo, one of the ancient Three Kingdoms of Korea alongside Baekje and Silla in 37 BCE. He stands out as a heroic figure since his story is a mixture of myth and historical fact.

When he heard of his mother's death, he sent for his first wife and son, Ye and Yuri, who arrived five years later. Ye became queen, causing Jumong's second wife Soseono to become extremely jealous and flee southward with her son, who became the first king of the Baekjae Kingdom.

After the death of Goguryeo's King Yuri, Crown Prince Muhyul rose to the throne to become King Daemusin. In 21 AD, King Daemusin led an army and invaded Dongbuyeo, eventually killing Daeso, but he didn't destroy Dongbuyeo.

King Yuri (38 BC – 18 AD, r. 19 BC – 18 AD) was the second ruler of Goguryeo, the northernmost of the Three Kingdoms of Korea. He was the eldest son of the kingdom's founder Jumong. As with many other early Korean rulers, the events of his life are known largely from the Samguk Sagi.

Muhyul is the grandson of Jumong but was born with a supposed curse to kill his parents, siblings, son, and destroy the country. His father, King Yuri, was horrified by this prophecy but couldn't get himself to kill his own child.

In 37 B.C., Jumong established Goguryeo to become the first king of the dynasty and reunited five different tribes into one kingdom. After founding Goguryeo, Jumong took Go, from Goguryeo, as his last name. He died in 19 B.C. at the age of 40.

Biryu (?-?) was the second son of Jumong and So Seo-no, and older brother of Onjo, the traditionally recognized founder of Baekje (18 BCE–660 CE), which was one of the Three Kingdoms of Korea. In an alternate legend, Biryu himself is described as the founder of Baekje.

Lady Yuhwa, Jumong's mother, died. Geumwa gave her the burial of a Queen Mother (Queen Mother of Goguryeo), despite the fact that she had never been a queen. Jumong sent numerous gifts to Geumwa in gratitude of caring for his mother, and peace was seemingly restored between the two kingdoms.

Overjoyed to be reunited with his wife and son, the king gave Yuri the title of crown prince. But Jumong already had a second wife named So Seo-no and two other sons, Biryu and Onjo. As the king's first wife, Lady Ye became queen and the second wife and her sons were disappointed and felt unsafe.

Yuri was the son of Jumong, the founder of Goguryeo. Yuri was raised where his father grew up by his mother. Yuri's mother, Lady Ye, and Yuri went to Goguryeo in 19 BCE, to go see his father. King Jumong proclaimed Yuri to be the Crown Prince of Goguryeo.

This is the tomb of Jumong (King Dongmyeong) who established Koguryo. It seems that the tomb was relocated from Tonggu region of South Manchuria to Pyeongyang when Koguryo moved its capital in 427 CE. This tomb belongs to tomb type with stone chambers covered with an earthen mound.

In the end, two of the three kingdoms in ancient Korea were founded by Jumong and his son, respectively. Yuri became king after Jumong died in 19 B.C. King Yuri is described as a powerful ruler who successfully expanded the territory of Goguryeo through a series of military expeditions.
