Tier 1 – Justin Fields

Fields came up small in Week 16 with only 9.9 fantasy points against the Bills, but the frigid temps and high winds were major factors.

Since Week 7 – when the Bears staff finally decided to incorporate their best weapon into their designed run game – the second-year QB averaged 26.2 points per game. The last time Chicago faced Detroit, Fields erupted for 40.4 points, including 147 yards and two rushing TDs.

Fields doesn’t have any notable weapons in the passing game, but the Lions have the worst-graded PFF coverage unit (43.5) and allow the third-most passing yards per game (276) in non-overtime play.

Ignore the Week 16 results; Fields is a SMASH play as a top-three QB in Week 17.

Additional QB Notes & Movers:

  • Tier 2 – Dak Prescottand the Cowboys might not need to press the gas pedal against a Titans unit that isresting multiple starters in preparation for a win-and-your-in game in Week 18 against the Jaguars. However, the Titans allow the second-most passing yards per game (292) in non-overtime and they will be playing backups. The Cowboys are a balanced offense and Prescott lives off of efficiency – he doesn’t need 40 attempts to hit in fantasy.Prescott UPGRADES to mid-range QB1 status.
  • Tier 2 – Jared Goffand the Lions are trying to keep their playoff hopes alive as they take on the Bears in a contest with the highest game total on the slate (52 points). Detroit carries the No. 1 team total at 29 points. The veteran QB is on a tear since the receiving corps returned to health. Since Week 12, he has averaged 303 yards and 2.2 TDs passing.Goff is a low-end QB1.
  • Tier 3 – Geno Smith has back-to-back games with under 240 yards and only one TD through the air. Pete Carroll is optimistic thatTyler Lockettwill return, but Pete Carroll is optimistic about everything in life. Regardless of how healthy their WRs are, the Seahawks face a stiff test against a Jets secondary that has allowed only three teams to eclipse 250 yards passing all season and is the No. 3 graded PFF coverage unit (85.5).Smith DOWNGRADES to mid-range QB2 status.

Tier 1 – Saquon Barkley

Barkley has three top-eight finishes in his last three healthy games, and his utilization continues to sparkle. He ranks No. 1 out of all NFL RBs in snap share (80%) and route participation (62%). He sits fourth in rushing-attempt share (69%) and third in target share (17%).

The Colts allow the fifth-most rushing attempts per game (29.6) in non-overtime play and the Giants are six-point favorites in a game where they can punch their ticket to the playoffs with a victory.

Barkley has a great setup and is a SMASH play.

Tier 1 – James Conner

Conner is the No. 5 non-QB fantasy player over the last four weeks, averaging 22.2 points. While the Cardinals aren’t the offense we all hoped for, the veteran RB is the uncontested No. 1 option, averaging 23.5 opportunities (attempts plus targets) per game since Week 12.

This weekend, the Cardinals face off against the Falcons, who allow the eighth-most rushing yards per game (133) in non-overtime play. Over the last four games, Atlanta has the fifth-worst PFF run defense grade (52.4).

Conner is a top-six RB in Week 17.

Tier 2 – Travis Etienne

Etienne is averaging 21 opportunities per game over the last three weeks and has a JUICY matchup against the Texans. Houston allows the most rushing attempts (33.5) and yards (166) per game in non-overtime play. Those two factors make him a threat to finish as the No. 1 overall RB.

Doug Pederson indicated the Jaguars are playing to win every game, so the starters will all play this weekend. There is a slight risk that some players rest if the game gets out of hand early.

Etienne is a SMASH play as a top-eight RB.

Tier 2 – Brian Robinson Jr.

Robinson averages 17.2 rushing attempts per game, and in Week 17,Antonio Gibson – who averages 8.7 carries in games with Robinson – isout due to a knee injury. Gibson also handles most of the passing downs, which is a driver to Robinson’s low 21% route participation average.

The Commanders don’t have much roster competition inJonathan Williams andJaret Patterson (practice squad), meaning Robinson could push for 25-plus touches as anevery-down bell cow this weekend in a juicy matchup.

The Browns allow the seventh-most rushing yards (134) and the third-most TDs (1.3) per game in non-overtime play. Cleveland ranks last in PFF run defense at 33.5.

With the stars aligning, Robinson hasthe potential for 100-plus yards and multiple TDs.He climbs to high-end RB2 status, joining Tier 2 withTravis Etienne, Nick Chubb, andJoe Mixon.

Tier 3 – Miles Sanders

Sanders is the definition of a boom-bust RB. The lows can be really low, with four outings under six fantasy points. However, the highs can also be really high, with three outings of 28.5 points or more.

This weekend, the Eagles are the fifth-largest favorites (six points) over the Saints’ run funnel defense. New Orleans allows the second-fewest passing yards per game (207) in non-overtime play but gives up the ninth-most on the ground (132). On average, opponents run the ball 29.1 times against the Saints.

Sanders a mid-range RB2 with a high-end RB1 upside.

Tier 3 – Cam Akers

Akers has taken over the Rams’ backfield, averaging 65% of the team’s rushing attempts since Week 13. During that stretch, he has finishes of RB8, RB21, RB22, and RB1.

The third-year RB isn’t highly efficient, but he will get help this weekend in a matchup against the fourth-worst graded PFF run defense (35.8). The Chargers allow the sixth-most yards per game on the ground (140) in non-overtime.

Akers is a mid-range RB2 that ranks ahead of names like Najee Harris, Leonard Fournette and Devin Singletary on championship weekend.

Tier 3 – Tyler Allgeier

Allgeier has taken over the lead RB responsibilities over the last two games with 50% and 56% of the Falcons’ rushing attempts. He has RB11 and RB12 finishes. The rookie also registered a season-high 16% target share on a healthy 54% route participation in Week 16.

The Falcons run the ball more than the NFL average in trailing (1st), close (1st), and leading (4th) game scripts. There isn’t a situation that can unfold on Sunday that will push Arthur Smith off of his commitment to the ground, which provides Allgeier with insulation from a bad outcome.

Atlanta is a 5.5-point favorite at home against an Arizona offense that might not put up much of a fight withDavid Bloughstarting at QB. The Cardinals are the eighth-worst PFF run defense (50.1).

Allgeier is a mid-range RB2 with high-end RB1 upside.

Tier 4 – Zack Moss

Moss will likely be forgotten by most after an eight-point fantasy performance in Week 16, but his underlying utilization was great.

The veteran back dominated snaps (69%) and rushing attempts (80%), including all of the short-yardage work (100%). He also registered more work thanDeon Jackson on passing downs, with 62% of the long-down-distance work and 50% of the two-minute offense.

The Colts aren’t a good team, but they are willing to stick with the run and the Giants have struggled in that department. New York allows the fifth-most yards per game (143) in non-overtime play and sports the fifth-worst PFF run defense grade (47.1).

Moss is a high-end RB3 with high-end RB2 upside in Week 17.

Additional RB Notes & Movers:

  • Tier 2 – Josh Jacobsand the entire Raiders offense take a step back withJarrett Stidham starting against one of the best defenses. The 49ers allow the fewest rushing yards per game (75) in non-overtime play. The veteran’s fantasy output trailed off over the last two games, averaging 9.5 points, and that trend looks to continue.Jacobs DOWNGRADES to a low-end RB1 that could perform more like an RB3.
  • Tier 2 – Kenneth Walker IIIaccounted for 91% of the Seahawks' rushing attempts over the last two games with a total of 38 totes. He also has seven targets over the last two games since recovering from the ankle injury that knocked him out of Week 13. Seattle will need to get their ground game going against a Jets defense that is very stingy against the pass but has allowed 120 yards per game on the ground since Week 7 in non-overtime play.Walker is a high-end RB2.
  • Tier 3 – David Montgomery’s upside is capped byKhalil Herbert, but the disparity in opportunities with and without Herbert isn’t as wide as some might think. Montgomery averages 16 opportunities with Herbert and 18.6 without. The Bears are a run-first operation, which still gives him a path to 20 touches in a great matchup against a Lions defense that allows the fourth-most rushing yards (146) and second-most TDs (1.5) per game in non-overtime.Montgomery is a mid-range RB2 with upside.
  • Tier 4 – Zonovan Knightwill be forgotten by many, but he has a top-notch matchup and should get the most carries on their team in Week 17.He is a mid-range RB2.

Tier 1 – CeeDee Lamb

Lamb is the No. 6 WR on the season after his 34-point outburst in Week 16 against the Eagles. The third-year WR has taken the step forward many were unsure he could make, ranking fifth in target share (29%), sixth in YPRR (2.47), and seventh in PFF receiving grade (89.2).

The Cowboys are 11-point favorites against a Titans team that will sit multiple starters this week, so Dallas might not need to keep the accelerator pegged. Still, the Titans allow the second-most passing yards per game (292) in non-overtime and will be down additional starters.

Dallas carries the fifth-highest team total (25.5), and all of their scores could come through the air.

Look for Lamb to have a highly efficient game on Thursday night as a top-five SMASH play.

Tier 2 – Garrett Wilson

Wilson has enjoyed six games this season withoutZach Wilson under center for the Jets. In those contests, he averages 19.3 points. In Week 17,Mike White will start at QB.

The calculus on this one is pretty straight forward – we are dealing with a superstar WR in the making and New York faces eighth-worst graded PFF pass defense (57.9) on the season.

Wilson UPGRADES to a low-end WR1 and is a SMASH play with White back under center.

Tier 3 – Jerry Jeudy

Jeudy has taken his game to a new level over his last six healthy games with a 28% target share. Over this stretch, he has a 78.4 PFF receiving grade and a 2.15 YPRR, getting dynasty managers excited once again about the third-year WR’s future.

1695%25%31%14.338%50%43%0%17.7

Of course,Russell Wilson’s colossal flop at QB is a challenge, but Jeudy has finishes of WR15, WR16, WR14, WR2, WR22, and WR15. He is succeeding despite the limitations of the Broncos' offense.

Early this season, Jeudy operated primarily from the slot, but in four of these six games, he has played outside 80% or more of the snaps. The former first-rounder is proving he doesn’t require the comfort of slot play to dominate his opponents, which will add to his value should he ever escape Denver in free agency.

In Week 17, Jeudy faces a Chiefs defense that he torched for eight receptions, 73 yards and three TDs in Week 14. Kansas City allows the most receiving TDs per game (2.1) in non-overtime.

Jeudy left practice on Wednesday due to an ankle injury, which is a situation to monitor.

As the reports are positive by Friday, he is a low-end WR2 with upside.

Tier 4 – DeAndre Hopkins

Hopkins popped up on the injury report on Friday with a knee injury, andColt McCoy was downgraded to out with concussion symptoms. The veteran WR has a strong matchup against the Falcons – PFF’s third-worst-graded coverage unit (50.4) – but he will be hard to trust at less than 100% withDavid Blough under center.

Fortunately, the Cardinals play in the early window, so at least fantasy managers will know if Hopkins is playing or not.

Hopkins falls to low-end WR2 territory.

Tier 4 – Tyler Lockett

Lockett expects to play on Sunday, but he will be a game-time decision in a late-afternoon tilt against a Jets defense that allows the fifth-fewest yards per game (213) in non-overtime.

The veteran WR carries additional risk due to his hand injury, which could make him a game-time scratch, knock him out of the contest early or reduce his effectiveness.

Lockett falls into the WR3 range and carries a lower floor and ceiling than usual.

Additional WR Notes & Movers:

  • Tier 3 – Christian Watsonis questionable after a limited practice on Friday with a hip injury. The electrifying rookie leads the Packers in TPRR (24%) and YPRR (2.20). He is in line for a HUGE game if he can get on the field against the worst pass defense in the NFL. The Vikings allow 294 passing yards per game in non-overtime.Watson is a mid-range WR2 if cleared for action.
  • Tier 4 – Terry McLaurin has a 13.8% TPRR with Carson Wentz, who will return as the starter in Week 17. This could be a sample-size issue, given the best receiving options typically earn the most targets regardless of the QB. However, there are times when the chemistry isn’t there with some QB-WR combos. It doesn’t help that the Browns are a run-funnel defense allowing the fifth-least yards through the air and the seventh-most on the ground.McLaurin DOWNGRADES to a low-end WR2 that could perform more like a WR4.
  • Tier 4 – Drake London’s targets have erupted over the last three weeks (12, 11, and 9). Since the loss of Kyle Pitts in Week 11, he has become the focal point of the passing attack for the run-first Falcons. The first-round pick faces a Cardinals defense allowing the eighth-most receiving yards per game (250) in non-overtime.London UPGRADES to low-end WR2 status.

Tier 2 – Dalton Schultz

Schultz averages only 7.7 fantasy points per game over the last four contests. However, his 89% route participation over the last four games suggests a spike in performance could be on the horizon.

Schultz has a 20% TPRR on the season and averaged 26% from Week 7 to Week 14. We haven’t seen a high TPRR and route participation game intersect yet for the veteran TE. However, if it happens, he has No. 1 TE potential.

Schultz is a mid-range TE1 with upside.

TE Notes & Movers:

  • Tier 1 – George Kittleis on fire withoutDeebo Samuel in the lineup, posting 25.3 and 30.0 fantasy points. Those are WR1 numbers. This weekend, the 49ers face a Vegas defense with the fifth-worst PFF coverage grade (55.2). Kittle is the No. 2 TE behindTravis Kelce.
