Is Care 1st Arizona Medicaid? ›

Care1st Health Plan Arizona provides Medicaid services to families, children, seniors, and individuals with complex medical needs serving northern Arizona, including serving as the Regional Behavioral Health Authority and crisis system operator for northern Arizona.

Founded in 1982, the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (written as AHCCCS and pronounced 'access') is Arizona's Medicaid program, a federal health care program jointly funded by the federal and state governments for individuals and families who qualify based on income level.
