There’s something about a simple wedding invitation that’s especially pleasing to the eye. Minimalist, modern, and elegant, lots of brides and grooms opt for a simpler style to represent their pared-back wedding aesthetic and decor.
Now, don’t get me wrong, we’ve seen plenty of gorgeous wedding stationery that come with lots of bells and whistles. For example, we are and always will be wowed by laser cut wedding invitations.
But a crisp, clean, understated wedding invitation can be just as impactful. And to prove it, Here we’ve rounded up some simple wedding invitations that caught our eye here in L&L land.

And let’s be real. Everyone likes shiny things. Ok, we may be overstepping our bounds in speaking for everyone on that point, but you get what we’re saying. We think the angular foil-pressed touches on this card are really striking.
These invites are a perfect example of how you can have simple but still add just a touch of glamour. If you’re not into the gold, there are other foil options available. If you’re not into foil at all, there are also plain options available in the same style.

This is such a dainty and elegant wedding invitation design. We thought it was so sweet without screaming “LOOK, YOU GUYS! WE’RE SO CUTE AND ROMANTIC!”
Sorry, we may have gotten carried away there with the caps lock to make a point. The point? Understated can be just as powerful (or more) than over-the-top. Just sayin’.
We don’t know if it’s the design, the card stock they use, or a bit of both, but they look expensive too.

I also can’t speak highly enough about the different color schemes on offer here. My favorite is Slate but Roséis definitely a close second!

These are perfect for an intimate outdoor ceremony, especially if you’re lucky enough to live in an area with mountainous views!

Tips to Use Invitation Templates
It’s so easy to edit and print your own wedding invitations these days, and the editing platforms most designers use is pretty user-friendly. If you’re having a hard time, the seller will almost always offer support to help you get the most out of your DIY experience. If they don’t, it might be prudent to choose another invitation!
We published an article about home printing vs. online printing for any kind of stationery. It’s a really, really thorough guide that outlines everything you’ll need, how much it costs, and how to choose whether you want to DIY or recruit a professional printer. If you’ve decided that using a template design is for you, it’s the go-to place for the info.
For this article’s purpose, we’ll get a little more abbreviated and offer some tips and know-how to help you choose an editable invitation template.
Graphics aren’t editable
The graphics and artistic orientation of a template set the design apart from others. To be candid, it’s the only way the artist makes any money on selling their invitations.
That said, you do have the freedom to move, add and/or delete text, choose your font size and style, and customize your colors. You will also choose your card stock, decide where and how to print them, and so on. That’s a lot of freedom.
Also take note that some templates are only designed for one or two sizes. For an invitation, most of the time, it’ll be a standard 5 X 7 flat card, but some vendors will work with you if you’d like a different size. Some also give you the option of printing two cards per 8.5 X 11 sheet to save paper (and trees!).
They’re not meant for usage beyond your wedding invitation suite.
Most invitation templates are designed for use within one year. Your wedding invitation templates are intended for just that—wedding invites.
It isn’t legal (or nice) to use the templates for marketing or merchandising materials. That’s the same thing as copyright infringement. Just sayin’
Some templates are more accessible than others.
Depending on the shop, some templates can be edited on a desktop computer and mobile devices/laptops. This versatility is great if you don’t have an at-home computer or spend a lot of time commuting or hanging at coffee shops.
Most of the templates we found work on web-based platforms rather than applications, eliminating the need to download fonts or install software to work on your invites.

Many of the templates we found also offer a try-before-you-buy option so the vendor can show you the product in good faith before you commit. If the shop you’re browsing doesn’t provide that, it might be a good idea to keep on looking elsewhere.
