15 of Northamptonshire's hidden beauty spots (2024)

The third national lockdown has left us more desperate than ever to find local beauty spots to get some fresh air without having to leave our local area.

Although you shouldn't travel outside of your locality at the moment, you might not realise that Northamptonshire has some simply stunning beauty spots that could be just around the corner from where you live.

Whether it's a wondrous woodland or a marvellous man-made structure, there are so many hidden places just dying to be discovered.

So, here are 15 of them that we've collated for you to have a look at. Have we missed any? Let us know in the comments below!

Salcey Forest

15 of Northamptonshire's hidden beauty spots (1)

Just seven miles from the centre of Northampton is Salcey Forest; a beautiful area of conserved and protected woodland which is perfect for all abilities.

There are three walking trails, each of different lengths, a cycling trail, a horse riding trail and 3km, 5km and 10km running routes too.

Not only is this a great place for the family (complete with picnic and play areas) but it's also fantastic if you're a nature lover. The woodlands here are bursting with ancient trees - some of the oaks are over 600 years old!

Sadly, the Tree Top Walkway is undergoing some repairs, but when it reopens, it's a great way to get some breathtaking, birds-eye views!
